My Star Wars Kid, who is now 5 years old, and I moved into our new house a little over 5 months ago. Since then we have been consistently fighting a tremendous temptation that has been growing by the day. Maybe it’s because my parents never let me do it, maybe it’s because I’m still a kid at heart or maybe it’s just because I want to be a part of my son’s fun adventures while he will still let me. On the day we moved in, and all was quiet we both looked at the banister on the staircase with a little bit of excitement. Over the past months we both have been consistently envisioning how much fun it would be to just slide down. Well, tonight was the night; Star Wars Kid and I got all the pillows and blankets off the beds and out of the closets and strategically placed them to pad the landing. We were finally off, he was in my lap laughing and screaming “We’re gunna crash mommy” and in 2 seconds it was over. Lying on the mountain of cushions, he screamed “Again, Again”, so again we went. We must have been sliding for at least an hour and by that time exhausted and way past his bedtime he crawled up in the pile of blankets and pillows and decided it was time to take rest. He fell asleep, looking as angelic as always, and I have to say it was one of the best nights and best memories I have in our new house.

What fun! Your kid will always remember this. The thing now is to control it so it doesn't become a regular activity or one that he does alone.

That is fantastic. You do realize that you are the world's coolest mom in his eyes?!
